Milan Airport
Milan itself has two principle airports; Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate, although many of the budget airlines now fly into Milan Bergamo airport, making it a third viable option for this area.
Malpensa (MPX) is the main airport for the city and is situated about 50km North West of the centre. It has two terminals; Terminal 1 is for scheduled flights and Terminal 2 for charter flights and there is a free shuttle service connecting the two that runs every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. The majority of the airport
’s facilities are found in Terminal 1
, although the smaller terminal also has banking and money exchange facilities, a post office, chemist and news agent. You will find the arrivals halls on Ground Level of the airport and for your return, check in is on Level 2 and the departure gates are on Level 1.
Linate (LIN) is the closest airport to the centre of Milan (7km) and is mainly used for Italian domestic flights and connections to the main European cities. The arrivals hall is on Ground Level and check-in and departures are on the 1st floor. The main terminal building has all the usual airport facilities available throughout these two floors (money exchange, shopping, snack bars etc) and there is also a restaurant and a tea room on the 2nd floor.
Bergamo (BGY) is also known as Aeroporto Orio al Serio after its location, and is about 1 hour’s drive east of Milan. It has become a popular choice for weekend shoppers and skiers in recent years due to the number of budget airlines that fly here, particularly from the UK. The airport itself is quite small, but very busy and it has a basic selection of good value shops and eateries throughout.
On arrival at Milan, your Show Train driver will be waiting for you in the appropriate Arrivals hall with a board displaying your party’s name - please be aware that this area can be very busy in winter so be sure to check each sign carefully!
